Pitmans Law were delighted to co-host a unique evening event with NatWest and BDO at the Diamond Light Source research facility for key manufacturing companies in the Thames Valley this week.
CEOs and MDs of the leading manufacturing businesses in the region were welcomed by the CEO of the facility, Andrew Harrison, and treated to an exclusive tour of the UK’s only operational synchrotron. The facility is used by 9,000 scientists each year, including researchers from leading corporates such as Unilever and Rolls Royce.
Professor Sam Turner, CTO of High Value Manufacturing Catapult, then led an engaging post-dinner discussion on the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’. Sam presented some of the issues surrounding companies such as Uber and Airbnb who have no physical assets and have built their businesses through technological connectivity. Guests debated the need for the adoption of disruptive technologies in some areas of manufacturing and whether it would be the key to the development of the industry in the future.
The event proved to be an exciting and inspiring occasion for guests and hosts alike.
