We harness a culture of inclusion by supporting our staff to reach their potential and providing equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender, race, age, marital status, religion and belief, sexual orientation or disability.
The results from our diversity staff survey reflect our commitment to fostering an inclusive culture.
Pitmans is outperforming other UK law firms on diversity, particularly with gender equality.
In 2015, the Solicitors Regulation Authority found that on average, 33% of partners at law firms across England and Wales are female. In comparison, 40% of Pitmans partnership is made up of women.
“As a leadership team, it’s our job to protect and enhance the culture and we always go the extra mile to build and motivate a friendly, professional and expert team that shares the same values and approach. We work with our clients and each other in an efficient and agile way and our effective infrastructure and processes ensure we are a firm that really gets things done.”
“Pitmans is an excellent firm in which to train and qualify into and the contract sets you up well for your future career. I was promoted to Senior Associate in 2016, having qualified in 2012, and I believe the support I received and the knowledge I gained throughout my time as a trainee was invaluable in achieving this.”
“Before joining Pitmans I knew they had a reputation for being a really genuine bunch of people – great to work with and for. The reputation is really well deserved and I’m so pleased to have joined such a welcoming and enthusiastic team. All new recruits are assigned a buddy to show them the ropes and help them settle in – it’s a really supportive environment.”
“One of the reasons I joined the firm as a trainee and have stayed since qualification is the working atmosphere of Pitmans. Of course we work hard, but we also have fun, working in a friendly and a team-focused environment. The firm recognises the importance of maintaining a healthy work/life balance.”
“I undertook work experience with Pitmans in 2003 and enjoyed it so much that I moved to Reading in 2005 to join the firm as a trainee. I immediately felt at home and have made some really good friends over the years.”
“One of the things that attracted me to Pitmans was the scale and scope of their international client base. Pitmans is a member of Interact Law – a global network of specialist legal firms – and this ensures lots of current and future opportunities to work with clients around the world.”
At Pitmans Law we don’t want to be just another law firm but to offer something different and better – to our clients and our people. We have ambitious growth plans based on the following principles.
We have cross-firm and cross-practice teams charged with delivery in these key strategic areas across all grades from trainee to partner.
This case sets an important legal precedent for employees working for UK organisations abroad. It also provides clarity on factors which an Employment Tribunal will take into consideration when deciding if an individual who works in a foreign country, but is employed by a British employer, can bring an employment claim in the UK.
