Mark Symons

Mark is an experienced commercial employment specialist who is Head of the Employment Department which operates out of London Reading and Southampton. He has a background in commercial litigation which continues to assist in bonus claims, wrongful dismissal and restrictive covenant litigation including team moves. Mark uses negotiation and mediation to seek to resolve disputes quickly. He covers drafting of Service Agreements, Consultancy Agreements, handbooks and policies and advises from recruitment through the employment relationship to enhance that relationship where possible through to Settlement Agreements where necessary. He advises on sensitive investigations and disciplinary processes to include fraud and utilising high quality external HR consultants and investigators here and abroad. Mark undertakes a cases involving Business Reorganisations, bullying and harassment, collective consultation, cross jurisdiction issues, social media, status issues (employed, worker or self employed),  whistle blowing and discrimination. He drafts and advises on the employment aspects of asset and share sales, TUPE and outsourcing. He has advised members of LLPs on employment status. Mark is experienced in tailoring services to start-ups, charity and non-profit organisations and entrepreneurs who are dependent on funding. He advises companies, directors, shareholders and senior employees on the employment aspects of shareholder agreements (Good and Bad Leavers), shareholder and boardroom disputes. Mark advises on employment issues for employers of professional sportsmen. He has spoken on Sky about internet monitoring and at CIPD meetings. He heads the Automotive sector and has particular experience, with other colleagues in that sector in acting for dealerships
